Wet weather in Los Angeles caused a fatality and numerous injury accidents last Saturday

People just never seem to learn to slow down enough in adverse weather conditions.
This time of the year it only gets worse, with drivers in a perpetual holiday rush.
December 18, 2010 saw 349 collisions between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. in the Los Angeles area, according to an article on the ABC 7 news web site, written by Melissa MacBride, Amy Powell and Leanne Suter.
In their article titled, “264 accidents along Los Angeles-area roads, the reporters write that, “Burn-area residents prep for possible slides.”
For it’s part, Los Angeles has been saturated with 5 to 12 inches, depending on the area in the last five days.
The ABC report noted that although the rain was light in some Southland cities, with approximately .14 inches at Los Angeles airport overnight, it was sufficient to contribute to accidents. In fact there will be a lot of extra work if you are a Los Angeles accident attorney or personal injury lawyer, or even a criminal defense attorney if a DUI is involved overall. A lot of motorcycle and auto accident cases to be tried.
One morning accident tangled traffic on the eastbound 10 Freeway in El Montefor hours.
It seems the driver of a big rig on the westbound 210 Freeway was killed in San Dimas when he lost control and slid across all lanes of traffic, colliding with a Toyota sedan.
Incredibly, the driver of the Toyota was not injured.
An accident on I-5 near the Calgrove Boulevard exit injured five people including two children in San Clarita, and in San Bernardino, a driver traveling east on the 210 Freeway near Waterman Avenue flipped his car when he swerved to avoid something in the road, according to the ABC 7 piece.
Southern California is expects to see more rain, yet. The current storm is a giant, as seen on satellite photos.
Of course big rain always means mudslides in certain California areas. Obviously it is a great time to be a Los Angeles criminal defense attorney or personal injury or accident lawyer as well as DUI attorney firm overall.
Bryan Torres, who works for the Glendale Public Works, was quoted as saying, “The burn areas this year is supposed to be the worst. The second year of a fire is supposed to be the worst, so we’re preparing the best as we can.”
A flash flood watch went into effect last Saturday night and Sunday for wildfire-burned parts of Los Angeles County for the Station, Morris, Briggs and Crown burn areas.
ABC 7 also reported that the rain forced closures of all county roads within the Station Fire burn area yesterday.
Rain forced the closure of Angeles Forest Highway, Big Tujunga Canyon Road and Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road to all but emergency vehicles.

Injury Risks are Increased In a Motorcycle Accident

Riding a motorcycle increases the risk of being involved in an accident, even when riding defensively, being alert to traffic and obeying traffic laws. Motorcycle accidents are often not the fault of the rider, but the injuries that can be sustained can be severe.

There are so many differences with this type of accident, including the disadvantages the rider has. The motorcycle rider has only two wheels, which means getting hit is going to throw the rider from the bike and the bike is going down. The rider also does not have any type of protection besides their helmet and possible protective clothing that is worn. There is no seatbelt, no airbag and the metal cage surrounding the vehicle driver.

The injury risks increase in a motorcycle accident, which can include head and brain trauma, spinal cord injuries, broken bones, internal injuries, and can result in amputations. The motorcycle rider is at the mercy of both other motorists and the condition of the roadway. These injuries can mean hospitalization, surgery, therapy, and possible permanent disability. Along with the injuries there is also the loss of work and this can be both an emotional and stressful time.

Injury risks are increased in motorcycle accident that occurs on the freeways in Modesto in the injured rider deserves to be fairly compensated. The most effective way to receive fair compensation is to have the assistance of an experienced motorcycle accident attorney. Going it alone against negligent driver’s insurance company is not going to be enough, they have attorneys to protect their interests and will try to effectively convince the injured rider to sign away their rights to fair compensation.

This is not the case when the injured motorcycle rider has to protection of an experienced Modesto motorcycle accident attorney, instead this attorney can ensure the injured rider’s rights to fair compensation. They will be able to recover compensation for the injuries and or other financial conditions such as ongoing medical care or a disability to return to work.

These financial difficulties will not be fairly compensated by the insurance company without the attorney that understands all the laws protecting motorcycle rider and the obligations of the insurance company. This attorney is also able to take the claim into a court of law or settle it agreeably without going to court for the injured motorcycle rider.

Cruise Ship Assaults Occur More Often Than Cruise Lines Want Passengers to Know

Saint Christopher cannot always protect you in your travels! Cruise ship assaults occur more often than cruise lines want passengers to know, since they don’t want potential passengers to realize that it can be dangerous taking a cruise. Cruise ships carry thousands of passengers and crewmembers. This makes it the population of a small city and that means there is potential danger.

Walking alone in dimly lit passage ways or on deck is not a wise idea, this is a place where a passenger could potentially be assaulted. The passenger should use good common sense like they would in any mall parking lot or anyplace else where they could be in danger from a possible assault. This is because cruise ship assaults occur more often than cruise lines want passengers to know. In fact the cruise ship assault has been of so much concern that law makers have passed legislation to help hold cruise lines more responsible.

Assaults on a cruise ship can range from unwanted touching to a cruise ship rape, and this can be devastating to a passenger, not only because it is an assault, but also because the person that has caused the assault is still onboard the cruise ship with the victim. The only recourse the victim has is to alert cruise ship security.

What this means is the passenger or crew member that assaulted the passenger is kept in their cabin. The cruise ship doctor has little or no experience in this type of injury, which means that important evidence and documentation could be lost. It also means that the cruise ship passenger that was assaulted is not receiving the proper medical care after an attack.

This can be a rough time for the passenger that is a resident of Long Beach, California until the ship gets into port and they can leave and get real medical care. This is also when they should contact a Long Beach cruise ship attorney, one that has experience in cruise ship assaults. The passenger that has been victimized should document everything in writing, since there might be little that the cruise ship security or medical staff documents. This can help the cruise ship attorneys investigation when preparing the cruise ship assault claim to go up against the cruise lines attorneys that will be protecting them from having to admit any fault.

Tips to Prevent a Dog Attack or Survive One

In Ghana, the threat of a wild dog attack is present every day. But in more developed countries, every year there are approximately 5 million people attacked by dogs in the United States and there are approximately 1,000 emergency room visits every day for dog bite treatment. Many of the victims of a vicious dog bite attack are children, but adults are not left out, they can also be severely injured in a dog bite attack.

Dog on a leash is still dangerous.

Be afraid of leashed dogs. They are more protective.

In the state of California the dog owner is responsible to keep his or her pet restrained and this includes ensuring that it does not pose a threat to neighbors. There are some tips that attorney Michael Ehline suggests that can prevent a dog attack or minimize the injuries that could result from a dog attack.

Tips to Avoid a Dog Attack

• Do not assume that a dog cannot harm you because it is not a certain size or breed. Letting your guard down can be a mistake with canine that you do not know, even when it is small.
• Avoid smiling at the dog, while you may believe it is a friendly gesture, the dog may see it as a threat, since your teeth are bared.
• Avoid eye contact with the dog; this can also be viewed as a threat and the dog may believe he is being challenged.
• Do not approach a dog that is chained for an extended period of time, this canine is more likely to be aggressive.
• Do not tease or provoke a dog in any way, they will view this as a threat and believe their only option is to attack.
What to do in case of a dog attack or the threat of a dog attack:
• If approached by a strange dog, remain calm. By panicking it could encourage the dog to attack, this includes running away. It is never a good idea to run from a dog, if it is aggressive, it will chase and definitely outrun a human. What might be possible to do in order to avoid a dog attack is to order the dog to go home or to sit and then slowly back away.
• When a strange dog approaches, closely observe its body language. When the dog has his head level it can mean that the dog is aggressive and if possible you should slowly back away. If dog’s head is low to the ground or held high as it approaches it is normally not aggressive. But, rather curious when the head is held high and when it is low they are smelling the scent in the area.
• When a strange dog approaches do not appear threatening, hold your position and wait to see what the canine is planning to do. Do not scream, even if the dog begins to attack, because this will make the dog more aggressive. Do not strike the dog, even in the head or face. Dogs have thick skulls and being struck will only anger them and make the attack more vicious.
• Instead to avoid a physical attack or lessen the injuries, fall to the ground and curl up in a fetal position, using the arms and legs to protect the face and neck.

If you are bitten in a dog bite attack is important to immediately get medical attention. The dog owner should be contacted and the local animal control authorities.

If you have been bitten by a dog an experienced California personal injury attorney, is in your best interest to ensure that your legal rights are protected. Ehline Law Firm has dog bite attack experience and can be reached at 888-400-9721.

We at Ehline Law hope out dog bite tips are able to help you, if you come in contact with a strange dog, no matter how large or small it is, there can be a threat of a dog bite attack. This has been a message of public importance from the dog bite lawyers at Ehline Law Firm at 213.596.9642.

Divorce Laws and Division of Assets

Divorce is comparatively consistent in each state. Sometimes it begins with a legal separation to see if some of the issues between the couple might be resolved. Many couples simply move directly into divorce proceedings. Here in Oahu this is a major issue overall, especially with all of the expensive real estate that is often involved with the more well off couples. Speaking of that, this Oahu Real estate firm at Sothebys comes recommended if you are looking to acquire some real estate on the island of Oahu.
With a Legal Separation, a court order is obtained to determine custody, visitation, support, of children, as well as property and debt distribution, and spousal support. Legal Separations are used for various reasons: often the couple may wish to formalize arrangements for children, financial obligations, and so on, and may hope to mend the marriage. I recommend a good divorce or family law attorney for these types of cases.
No fault divorce now prevails in the majority of states. It used to be that the grounds for a divorce had to be stated as to why the person filing for the divorce was doing so. It is still common to read about a divorce being filed on the grounds that there are “irreconcilable differences.”
Often, divorce is initiated when infidelity is involved. However, one of the most common areas for contention in marriage stem from money problems. If you need a good San Diego divorce attorney then this firm can help as well as for family law, DUI and criminal defense cases.
Every state has some form of no-fault divorce or dissolution. Now a spouse can file for a divorce and not have to give any reason why. If one person wants a divorce, the other spouse has no choice but to divorce.
Having said that, it is still possible to divorce on traditional grounds, which include cruelty, physical or emotional, infidelity, desertion, or imprisonment.
A spouse might bring a petition based on fault because in that state the law may speed the final decree and the state law may consider fault when dividing assets. In many states, however, this is not the procedure to use. My friend on Oahu was involvd in such a case and lost a lot of real estate in the process.
To start divorce or dissolution proceedings, in many states a petition is filed with the family law court. A copy will then be served on the spouse. The courts can also sometimes be different, for example, Seattle is a little different from LA and so forth.
It’s best for everyone if an agreement on how your assets will be divided without going to trail. Some states even require a mediation, which entails meeting with a neutral third party to aid in resolving conflicts.
When a couple cannot agree on how to divide their property, they must rely on the court to decide. Depending on the state law, the assets will be divided based on Equitable Distribution or Community Property.
